Up-Do Class for Homecoming

Filed under: Library Programs, Parents — Teen Blog @ 1:02 pm

Happy October! I’ve seen some great photos from Homecoming, and I wanted to share pics from the Mother/Daughter Up-Do class, held just a few days before the event.

Up-Do Class (30)
Nici and Kelly from In Chelsea Hair Design gave tips on what was in style this season, and how to create a loose and carefree look.

Soft, slightly wild up-dos were definitely the thing to do, accented with braids or small jeweled pins. Up-Do Class (8)

Teens (and Moms) were given a chance to try their hand at styling and curling techniques on their peers.
Up-Do Class (15)

Another popular style demonstrated was the side-pony. Remember to tie the hair with a rubber band low and below the ear, so it looks sophisticated instead of silly!
Up-Do Class (22)
Leave plenty of hair out of the pony-tail, so you can wrap hair around the elastic.

One final tip– leaved the hair stray for when you’re finished fiddling! Otherwise you’ll end up with a sticky mess.

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

Filed under: Current News, Parents — Teen Blog @ 12:28 pm

ted_logoTED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

On the TED website, and on Youtube, you can find incredible talks that are short, easy to understand, and will give you a better understanding on anything from the insides of a star, to pop culture in the middle east.

Here is Jamie Oliver discussing how American food is killing Americans. Do you think he’s right? Feel free to disagree(or agree) in the comments! :)
