Christy was a natural   It sounds strange to call a librarian that, but it's true. She had such a flair for and love of her profession that she was an inspiration to us all. I particularly enjoyed "talking shop" with Christy. We had many conversations about library issues and she had great ideas for adult services and the new library. I am very sorry she will not be here to carry them out.
Even though she was half my age, I looked up to her and valued her advice and opinions. She was funny and smart and she was just getting started. I will really miss her.
--- Karen Persello, Head of Youth Services, Chelsea District Library

I have been thinking of you all day and have struggled to find the right words -- of course we know there are no words. I am so very sorry and cannot imagine what you, your staff, volunteers, and patrons are experiencing.

--- Ginger Sissom, Executive Director, Chelsea Center for the Arts

Christy Gutekunst was a wonderful young and developing librarian.  She was very bright. She was happy and had an infectious smile.  With the recent addition of Christy as Head of Adult Services we had a great library management team. She was a partner in so many of our recent library and community programs; developing the Senior Connections program with the CATS bus and the senior center and inaugurating the first Chelsea-wide community read with One World One Family; Christy had so many great ideas for service and she was just hitting her stride.  At 25 years old she had such energy, such promise, a wonderful good humor, a light touch and that great Christy smile. I, and the entire library staff at Chelsea District Library, will miss her very very much.
--- Metta T. Lansdale, Jr., Director - Chelsea District Library

Christy was a truly sparkling gem, I know that we will cherish her spirit always.

--- Jennifer Kundak, One World, One Family and Friends of the Chelsea District Library

We have heard the news here in Jackson. A week ago we had a Reference Department dinner and naturally included her because she had been so much a part of our success as a department in the last year. During the dinner we could tell how happy she was in Chelsea; how much she was learning, planning, accomplishing; visibly growing in the job.
Please accept our sympathy on the loss of your friend and valued colleague, Christy. Please think of us as we try to comprehend that our dear friend is gone.

---  Deborah Sears, Jackson District Library

What a terrible event!  I want to express my sympathy to you and your staff. It must be very hard to lose a colleague, especially someone like Christy who clearly made a real difference at Chelsea.

--- Sherry Hupp, Cromaine District Library Director
