2009 Friend of the Year & Volunteer of the Year

Friend and Volunteer of the Year 2009

Congratulations to Louise Jernigan, Ray Sleep and George Sparrow all of whom won awards during The Friends of Chelsea District Library 60th Anniversary Celebration.

Louise, treasurer of the Friends Board for many years, was presented the Friend of the Year Award. She has worked directly with preparing the use-book sales since the old McKune Library building days. This award is more of a "lifetime" achievement award" in that it reflects significant work done each year over many years.

Ray Sleep and George Sparrow earned "Volunteer of the Year" awards.

Ray has served with great dedication in the area of computer support and teaching computer workshops.

George Sparrow was not present to accept his award, but was enthusiasticallly recognized for his enormous volunteer contributions to the library local history collection and the Study Hall program.
